Access Creatives is a varied list of creative people; artists, designers, illustrators and so on. Their work is either easy to see, or uses other senses. If you are recruiting for a creative project and accessibility is important, there may be someone on this list who can assist you.

With specialist colleges closing, it is increasingly likely that mainstream colleges and universities will have applicants with visual impairment.  This may require staff to alter teaching methods and learning materials.

How can Create Vision UK help staff in Post 16 Education?

  • Assess individual students to identify needs for support, equipment and training.
  • Provide training for individual students, to ensure they have the independence and practical skills in place to make the most of their education.  This could include orientation and travel, keyboard skills, and use of magnifiers.
  • Training for staff - giving confidence and skills to work with students who have a visual impairment.
  • Ensure that the environment is conducive to learning for people with visual impairment (e.g. sufficient lighting).
  • Advise on accessibility of learning materials.
