Design Industry

With an ageing population, considering disability in design should be high on the agenda.  Create Vision UK believes that design can be both inclusive and creative.

Whether you design interiors, products or graphics, the principles are the same.  Visually, designs should be clear and contrasting.  The layout and structure should be simple and consistent.

Create Vision UK's specialism is advising on design for people with visual impairments.  However, to encourage design that is fully inclusive, we always consider other users as well.  This is particularly important as many people have more than one disability.

How can Create Vision UK assist design companies and departments?

  • Training and advice to increase designers' understanding about inclusive design.
  • Suggesting changes to implement before spending money on production or printing.
  • Reviewing accessibility of existing designs for people with visual impairment.
  • Liaising between designers and their customers on disability issues.
  • Conducting research amongst visually impaired users through market research.
