Access Creatives is a varied list of creative people; artists, designers, illustrators and so on. Their work is either easy to see, or uses other senses. If you are recruiting for a creative project and accessibility is important, there may be someone on this list who can assist you.

A visual impairment is an eye condition that cannot be corrected by glasses.  It can be caused by any interruption along the clear pathway from the front of the eye to the visual cortex in the brain.

Between full sight and total blindness is a huge spectrum.  There are many different types and levels of sight loss.  Total blindness is rare; 96% of those registered blind have some vision.

If below specific levels of sight loss, individuals can be registered with 'severe sight impairment' or 'sight impairment' (the previous registration terms were blind or partially sighted).

Create Vision UK's work mainly assists organisations to cater for people with uncorrectable sight loss.  However, the good news is that by doing this, your organisation also assists those individuals who are waiting for cataract operations, or those who cannot find their reading glasses!

Contact Create Vision UK to find out what we can do to help your organisation cater for people who are blind or visually impaired: info@createvisionuk.com or 01793 831685.

Top Tip: remember that the same eye condition could effect two people very differently.
