Access Creatives is a varied list of creative people; artists, designers, illustrators and so on. Their work is either easy to see, or uses other senses. If you are recruiting for a creative project and accessibility is important, there may be someone on this list who can assist you.

This range of services is designed to ensure that individuals with visual impairment have maximum independence and safety in their daily life.  Rehabilitation can benefit those new to sight loss and those who want to update their skills.

The following is a range of what is available; however individual needs vary greatly and we have not tried to cover everything here.

Assessment

Before any training is given, we can carry out an assessment of an individual's current skills.  This could be a general assessment, or specific to one area such as mobility.

Mobility and Orientation

  • Indoor travel including use of stairs.
  • Use of mobility aids such as the long cane and symbol cane
  • Outdoor travel, including learning routes, crossings roads and use of public transport.  We can work with people in their work, study or home areas.  People do not have to use a white cane or guide dog to use these services.

Daily Living Skills

  • Kitchen skills
  • Cleaning
  • Personal care
  • Recognising and dealing with money

Communications

  • Learning Braille, Moon, or DeafBlind Manual
  • Reading and writing with low vision
  • Keyboard skills
  • Use of the Daisy player, CCTV's and other equipment

To find out more, contact us on info@createvisionuk.com, 01793 831685, or use our contact form.

Top Tip: a full assessment gives an outline of what an individual needs - and how much time / money input might be needed.
